THE SIDE SADDLE MEETING IN PRESTENICE

The side-saddle meeting took place in riding club Prestenice (close to Milevsko) in 30.7.2004 - 1.8. 2004.
On Friday ladies arrived, and after introducing each other they rode to sourrounding countryside, in side-saddles of course. On Saturday, ladies had a training course with Mr Milan Vytejcek who is a trainer of side-saddle and baroque riding. Sunday was open to public and we couldn´t miss it, because there was a Akhal Teke mare which we wanted to see.
Sunday programme started later because there was a storm in the morning, fortunately the weather got better soon and strong sunshine discomforted ladies dressed in velvet. At the beggining there was a dressage presentation. The first lady was Eva Maredova riding horse Prim, and I found their performance wonderful. It was marvellous demonstration of a harmony of horse and rider. Then followed Karolina Frankelova riding Century, Lucie Hrebejkova riding Artus and Petra Bednarova riding Nykim, then Friesian mare riden by her owner Helena Vrbicka, and finally Akhal Teke mare Daugava ridden by her owner Iveta Schwarzova.
Everybody liked following demonstration of show jumping in side-saddle, presented by Karolina Frankelova riding Century and Eva Maredova riding Prim. At the end there was mounted game for ladies and their horses with number of tasks - gate, barrel slalom, jump over the fence, carrying a flag from one place to another one, passing through obstacle made of poles, double fence combination and trotting poles. The fastest rider was a winner.

I´d like to give thanks to organizers, especially to Lucie Hrebejkova and Karolina Frankelova, for this succesful meeting. Everybody was very friendly. And after all, one interesting thing: our long-time friend Eliska Hanusova, who sometimes ride side saddle (Akhal Teke horses in Sumava), came with us there. She borrowed there mare Perla (owned by Lucie Hrebejkova), and she won the competition - as the saying goes: Veni, vidi, vici.
